The Cosmos Collection {From Rolling In Roses}, steelasophical

Beautiful British bridal design is one of my favourite things to share on RMW. We truly have a wealth of talent in this country and it’s great to support home grown talent. The lovely Hayley Neil, owner of Glory Days and head designer at Rolling In Roses, is one of the leading ladies within the industry and if you’re searching for a wedding dress maker who crafts with love, real attention to detail and always to a cracking musical soundtrack, then she’s the girl for you.

Today we’re sharing the gorgeous new Cosmos collection from Rolling In Roses which takes inspiration from the night sky. Alongside Hayley’s signature vintage inspired cuts, you’ll find gorgeous celestial motifs and embellished details, making this a collection that gives a nod to fashion history but is very much for the modern bride…

Introducing The Cosmos Collection by Rolling In Roses; a selection of designs using the spangled sky as their inspiration. Each dress is named after a star in our sky, and design details such as starburst seams, subtly sparkling fabrics, and star motifs within the fabrics themselves enrich this heavenly theme.

{The Cosmos Collection}

‘Are you the one that I’ve been waiting for?
O we will know, won’t we?
The stars will explode in the sky…
All down my veins my heart strings call
Are you the one that I’ve been waiting for?’ – Nick Cave

The gowns are a subtle nod to the glam-rock stylings of the 1970s, without losing their appeal to the modern aesthetic. Details such as cut-out shoulders and cheekily audacious keyhole openings at the necklines provide eye-catching points of interest, along with sheer, split, or plunging backs and a variety of unusual sleeve styles. The sumptuous range of fabrics include delicate floral lace, crushed metallic silk, 100% silk crêpe-backed satin, iridescent embroidered sequin tulle, and an exclusively designed laser-cut satin which is uniquely made especially for us and available nowhere else. The geometric star design which is laser-cut into the fabric was dreamt up by our head designer Hayley Neil and was inspired by the stunning architecture and stained glass windows of the famous York Minster, which is just a short walk from our atelier. Details from the spectacular vaulted ceiling and medieval stained glass of the magnificent Rose Window were incorporated into the design; heavenly indeed.

Other elements within the collection include the elusive flash and sparkle of the single Swarovski crystal which fastens the Electra dress at the nape of the neck, and the discreet contrasting star-burst seams of the Diadem dress which only reveal their secrets by a certain trick of the light. Also the subtly metallic crushed silver silk of the Atlas dress, which is beautifully iridescent and catches the light in different ways. In some lights it seems to change its colour as if by magic and turns to a beautiful opalescent blush shade. Pure witchcraft!

The ivory sequinned fabric of the Mira and Capella dresses has a wonderfully subtle shimmer during the daylight hours, but when day turns to night the sequins really come alive; perfect for an evening dancing under the stars. With this collection we are also absolutely delighted to be introducing the use of eco-friendly 100% organic peace silk, ethically produced right here in Britain. We strive to run our company as ethically and with the minimum environmental impact as possible, so this fabric is a dream come true.

All Rolling In Roses dresses are designed and made with both comfort and glamour in mind; our brides always comment on how comfortable and easy to wear our gowns are. The train of each dress has an internal wrist loop for ease of carrying, and ribbon ties to hook them up out of the way for dancing, and all dresses are lined in a natural breathable silk/bamboo mix charmeuse. No restrictive boning or scratchy fabrics, just pure freedom.

All of the Rolling In Roses collections are available to view in their entirety at Glory Days in York, and selected dresses are also available at Story Of My Dress in Kent. The Cosmos collection (as well as the two previous collections) will also be available to try on at Most Curious Wedding Fair in March, which takes place in the heart of London’s edgy East.
