Phuong and Andy’s Tropical Boho Glam Wedding by Lisa Woods Photography, steelasophical
Todays wedding has so many things that I just LOVE. Bright and bold florals, gold accents, sequin bridesmaids dresses, food trucks and festoon lighting! All these aspects pulled together, really do make for the perfect wedding. Phuong and Andy were married on 12th November at Mercury Hall in Austin, Texas. Their wedding planner named their wedding ‘tropical Boho glam’ and I’m sure you will agree that she got the styling spot on. The amazing blooms realy steal the show, as do Phuong’s two wedding dresses and beautiful smile! A perfect mix of tropical meets Texas, all captured beautifully by Lisa Woods Photography.
Tropical Boho Glam Wedding
Our planner, Cheryl Bailey of Yellow Umbrella Events, tagged our theme “Tropical Boho Glam” after speaking to us about our vision. We wanted to highlight Hawaii (where we live) and keep the atmosphere classy but still whimsical. My favorite details that helped tie this theme together were the floral design, the huge chandelier and festoon lights hanging from the oak trees, and the gold accents everywhere. My husband’s favorite detail was our surfboard guest sign-in book that was shaped in Oahu. I’m tempted to take it in the water now but I don’t want the signatures to wash off!
I wasn’t sure if it was possible to do tropical in Texas, but this was achieved with the help of Gypsy Floral. They made me a gorgeous flower crown that I wore in place of a veil, and my bridal bouquet was stunning. It featured a huge king protea flower at the center of a tropical masterpiece. The ceremony area was adorned with white orchid leis cascading from oak tree branches. It felt like we were at someone’s backyard party in Hawaii.
Now of course, since the wedding was in Austin, TX, we had to have food trucks and live music. Before food trucks became a big deal, Austin already had a strong scene, and we wanted our guests to enjoy a sampling of our favorites: la Barbecue (Andy‘s favorite TX BBQ truck) and East Side King (my favorite Asian fusion truck). We also chose Whole Foods (founded in Austin, TX) for really delicious appetizers.
We both agree that the reception was the most fun. The Royal Dukes Band was fantastic and got everyone dancing, including Andy‘s 96 year old grandma! At that point, the stress of the day was over and we could literally kick back, dance, and play!
