Isabell and Jamie’s Stunning Sea Themed Spanish Wedding by El Jardin Del Cabo and Aloha Estudio
Today I’m taking you away from the cold Autumn weather to bring a bit of summer sunshine into your life with this gorgeous Spanish Wedding! Isabell and Jamie were both brought up in Spain but have since moved away. It seemed only right to return to Spain for their wedding. They planned a stunning day with the help of El Jardin Del Cabo who sent me this gorgeous wedding. They chose a pale blue colour scheme and mixed this with elements of the sea, fusing the two beautifully. Isabell looks stunning in both of her wedding dresses and the outdoor set up looks amazing. Big thanks to Aloha Estudio for the gorgeous images.
A global celebration of love in sunny Spain. A day filled with emotion, laughter and lots of love.
Isabell and Jamie were married on 24th June 2017 at Finca Marques de Montemolar, Altea, Spain. “We both moved with our families to Spain at the age of 12 and went to the same school where we met. Our parents still now live in Spain, so it made complete sense to go back to the place where we first started going out and we still call home. It took us a year to plan and we had 72 guests!”
How they met
We met at an International School in Spain. We’ve been together for 9 years.
The Proposal
Jamie took me for a weekend break back to Spain to see our parents. One morning he woke me up early and said he wanted to go for a walk along the beach, which wasn’t really unusual. We went to one of our favourite beaches and when walking on our way back he went down on one knee and proposed with a beautiful sapphire ring. It was so special as he did it in the country we both first met. He had also arranged for my sister and his brother to be flown to Spain for the same weekend so we could announce the news straight away in person to our families.
How did you allocate your budget?
We both had savings that we used and our parents each gave us money for the caterer.
Where did you splurge and how did you save?
It was important for us to have good food and plenty of it so the guests wouldn’t go hungry. We also wanted our decoration at the ceremony to have the wow factor, so we decided to splurge on flowers. We saved by not needing a special wedding car or transport and also by making all the stationary designs ourselves as I’m from a creative background.
Why did you choose your photographer?
We found Aloha Estudio through Instagram and Facebook. The moment we saw their photos and videos we knew we wanted them. The photos are so natural and look so effortless. They capture the day as you would remember it without missing the small details. We didn’t want wedding photos that were too posed.
Theme or Colour Scheme
My favourite colour is light blue so I knew it would always have been our main colour scheme. As a theme we used the sea, which worked well with the blues.
Flowers
We had peonies, delphiniums, hydrangeas, tillandsias, protease, amaranths, garden roses, spray roses and lots of green foliage.
Decoration
We had one big flower arch at the ceremony with many sea accent decorations. At the champagne reception we had picture frames of our parents at their wedding days. For the dining tables we had gorgeous flower pieces by El Jardín del Cabo. We also had a big light up LOVE sign!
Food
We had many different canapés at the champagne reception including Wild mushroom croquettes, homemade mini burgers and for dinner we had a glorious green salad with marinated partridge and pomegranate vinaigrette followed by loin of Iberian pork with peking sauce. For deserts we had Sorbet Mojito and Chocolate Bomb with peanut butter ice cream.
Wedding Cake
The cake was made by my mum and decorated with flower pieces from El Jardin del Cabo. It was three-tier with two different types of cake. One was a German black forest gateau and the other a strawberry and cream sponge.
Entertainment
We had a pianist and cello playing live music during the ceremony and dinner. We had show cooking at the champagne reception and the German family also had organised some fun games that other guests got involved in.
Who supplied the stationary?
I made and designed it all myself and got most of it printed on printed.com
Personal Touches
All the planning and most of the ideas came from us which made the entire day very personal. As a family we all made a special backdrop photo wall out of pompoms and we hung up the photos of our parents at their wedding days. We had disposable cameras on each table with a list of tasks the guests had to complete.
Special Moments
For us both the most special moment was the ceremony and when we said the ‘I do’s’. We also really loved our first dance as Mr and Mrs that we had specially rehearsed for. Another special moment was when we got to do our little photoshoot with the photographer.
Advice for other couples
Get a wedding planner! This is definitely what we would advise as the whole process can be stressful and there are so many things you have to take decisions on. But at the end we both said we would probably do it the same way again as it brought us even closer together.
Biggest Surprise
My bicycle wedding present from my husband and the amazing speech my sister gave at the ceremony.
