Rachael & Philip, steelasophical
With wedding planners & stylists Italian Eye at the helm and Damien Milan on photography, you just know a wedding is going to be utter perfection. Then you throw in a stylish and free spirited couple like Rachael & Philip, and the whole thing is taken to the next level. Our gorgeous duo discovered The Stephens Green Hibernian Club, an absolute gem of a venue hidden in the centre of Dublin and chose to hold their spiritual wedding ceremony there.
Rachael looks fairy tale-esque in a gold leather laser cut gown by Giles Deacon, with her long blonde locks like a princess and a boho floral crown. The whole day looked like a truly special occasion – but then with the stars actually aligned for this soulful pair (read on for more) we’d expect nothing less…
Our Wedding
Rachael the Bride: We fell madly in love 2 years ago and wanted to celebrate our mariage with family and friends. Philip is a vedic astrologer and vedic astrology was used to calculate the exact time of our marriage ceremony. For the two of us the marriage was a spiritual union between two souls who wanted to share their journey of life together. Finding the most auspicious time to begin the wedding ceremony and consequently to begin the journey of marriage was the most important part of the whole wedding preparation.
The Venue
The Stephens Green Hibernian Club in Dublin was the first and last venue that we viewed. It is a real secret gem of a venue. Falling in love with its Georgian aesthetic, history and friendly staff, we felt it was a incredible and exciting place and instantly felt that it was indeed the right place for our marriage. The venue is set beside an historic green where we slipped away during the festivities to have a moment alone with our photographer Damien Milan.
The Guests
Irish history meets contemporary art and fashion. Guests included Irish singers, artists and fashion designer Pauric Sweeney. Being so centrally located in Dublin city centre it also made it very easy for people to travel form abroad to come to the venue, friends and family came from Wales, Australia, London, France and all over Ireland.
The Ceremony
The ceremony itself was a mixture of Indian Vedic Spiritual tradition and welsh folk tradition, Kirtan Spiritual Music, a Ring Blessing, Welsh and Irish Folk music and the tying of Raksha thread on the bride and groom were all part of the wedding ceremony. There was an array of great mixtures of cultures from past and present set to a relaxing and beautiful surroundings on one of the hottest days in Ireland.
The Styling
Friends and family helped on the many preparations, from design planners, film directors, artists, museum directors and singers. Rachael has a keen eye as a senior curator of contemporary art and this led to support from professionals such as Italian Eye Weddings to plan this romantic, elegant and authentic experience. The joy and warmth of this wedding was made unique by the love and overwhelming support of close friends and family.
The Entertainment
Artists and bohemians at the ready: Day – Dublin Krsna Temple Kirtan music, singers/songwriters Anne Scott, Katell Keineg, Larry Beau, Padraic Moore – all professional singer songwriters, rock and roll meets Irish country vibe. Night – Live music with Larry Beau, then live DJ sets in the evening by Groom and friends (5 Djs in total in the evening)
The Food
We served caprese, butternut squash & sage risotto and an assortment of mini desserts.
The Photography
We couldn’t be happier with the way our photographer Damien captured every detail of the day. Hi work is true and really captures the soul.
