Mari & Felix, steelasophical

I’ve definitely got that Friday feeling poring over this glorious back garden wedding by Lisa Webb Photography. The colours and blooms are bright and beautiful as is all the decor and detail that has gone into this at home celebration. Have you seen the homemade cake yet?

Bride Mari looks unbelievably chic in a pre-owned gown and I just love her wild flower bouquet and crown. Her bridesmaids are the epitome of cool too in yellow dresses from the hight street, and complimenting all the country vibes is groom Felix in a tweed suit.

Now if you need cheering up after a loong week, this is the wedding for you. Enjoy lovely ones.

Dress

Mari the Bride: I wanted something very simple as I wanted the focus to be on the flowers and bright colours. I found my dress online – it was a second hand ASOS dress that was the perfect length! It was the first dress I looked at it but it was perfect for me. I didn’t wear any jewellery but I had a brightly coloured flower crown featuring seasonal summer wildflowers and herbs.

Groom’s Attire

The groom had his suit made at King & Allen in Surbiton. We wanted a rustic look and really loved the speckled tweed and checked waistcoat with floral lining. The material feels amazing.

The Venue

We wanted our wedding to be rustic and natural but most importantly, intimate and fun! The Groom’s parents hosted the reception at their stunning Grade II listed home in Surbiton. We chose it because it has a beautiful garden which was big enough for our 80 guests while still being intimate, and the house is decorated in bright colours that we love. We planned the wedding in only seven months so we also needed something with flexible availability.

Colour Scheme/Décor

We love colour so we wanted our wedding to be bright and colourful with a wildflower theme. It was inspired by the beauty of summer, and in particular my love of all things yellow! We wanted to keep it simple and focus on the flowers. The décor included lots of bright fabrics and decorations found around the house! We wanted our wedding to be rustic and homely so we used lots of wooden furniture, candles and home made decorations.

Flowers/Florist

The bouquets, flower crowns and centrepieces were all done by the lovely Fleurs Amanda in Weybridge. Centrepieces on the tables were trough designs and featured the same flowers as in the bouquets and head pieces. We wanted the main colours to be bright yellow, dark purple and orange. They used a mixture of beautiful bright wildflowers and herbs, and we bought flowers locally to make some of the smaller arrangements to fit in with the theme.

The Wedding Party Fashion

The best man and father of the groom combined waistcoats from King and Allen that matched the groom’s, with their own suits to complete the rustic look. The maid of honour and bridesmaids wore bright, dark yellow dresses to compliment the flowers.

Ceremony

The ceremony was held at Twickenham registry office in York House. It is a big building full of History with big gardens. We chose it because it was conveniently located near the reception venue but also because of the big gardens and outside space. We had two readings, one by the bride’s sister and one by the mother of the groom. Both readings were beautiful and very special to both the bride and groom.

Entertainment

The best man made a playlist which carried us from day to night. There were also a couple of live acoustic performances by one of the bride’s sisters and then the bride’s oldest friend. Both performances were were special and emotional!

Food

When guests arrived at the reception, they were greeted with champagne, pimms and canapés, then we had a barbecue in the apple garden. The cake was a triple layer cake made by the maid of honour. It consisted of three layers of lemon, elderflower and rose sponge, decorated with beautiful bright summer flowers. It was amazing! We had a Barrel Bar from Barrell and Cask, with ale, beer, cider, wine and gin!

Photographer

Our photographer, Lisa Webb was amazing at capturing all our special moments. She was lovely and knew just what we wanted. We loved her natural style and she was incredibly professional – she made us feel so comfortable. She has such a good eye for light and knows just how to capture the best photographs using natural light.

Advice

We had so much fun with the photobooth provided by Proud Parker photography! They set up in one of the rooms in the house and provided all the props for our fun photobooth. Everyone loved it and the photos are hilarious. They printed two copies of each photograph – one for the guest and one for the guest book! We upcycled lots of items found around the home to help give us the rustic and natural style we were looking for. It was the best day of our lives!
